Israeli raid on refugee camp in West Bank kills six

SIX Palestinians were killed in the occupied West Bank today as Israeli forces stormed the Faraa refugee camp.

The youngest was a 14-year-old boy. Another of those killed was the founder of the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade, an armed offshoot of the secular Fatah Party, the dominant party in the Palestinian Authority (PA) which nominally governs the West Bank under Israeli military control.

Though attention has been focused on Israel’s war on Gaza since Hamas’s October 7 attack from that territory, violence has also surged in the West Bank, with the UN saying violence by illegal settlers against Palestinians there is at record highs.

The Palestinian Health Ministry says Israeli forces have killed 267 Palestinians in the West Bank since October 7. The US government says it wants the West Bank-governing PA to take over Gaza — ruled by Hamas since 2007 — after Israel’s war, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said this is out of the question.
