South Korea issues apology after failed missile launch sparks alarm

SOUTH KOREA’S military issued an apology today after its failed joint drill with the United States saw a missile hit land near a city, sparking alarm.

Residents at the coastal city of Gangneung woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of an explosion and a fire in the distance.

The military did not acknowledge the incident until hours later, confirming that one of their missiles failed soon after it was launched and crashed off course.
