Swedish communists slam ban on using its own name in elections

THE Communist Party of Sweden is appealing against a decision to ban it from using its own name on ballot papers in the forthcoming elections. 

The Scandinavian country’s electoral authorities has justified the move, saying the name is too close to that of another party which does not even run candidates in parliamentary elections. 

Instead the party will run under its acronym SKP —  short for Sveriges Kommunistiska Parti.
