Turkish jets launch huge air strikes against PKK

TURKISH jets carried out massive air strikes in the Zap, Metina and Avasin mountain regions of Iraqi Kurdistan over the weekend, it was confirmed yesterday.

Missiles struck at least 31 sites in the area, known as the Medya Defence Zones, which Turkey says is under the control of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

Several waves of attacks were launched as guerilla forces were targeted, the PKK said. No casualties were reported as a result of the bombardments.
