ROME: The Pope opened a church-wide summit today with a blistering attack on the United States for blocking action to mitigate climate change.
He spoke as he opened the so-called Synod on Synodality, calling for the Catholic church to become a welcoming place for “everyone, everyone, everyone.”
It is the first church summit in which women can vote, enraging traditionalists.

TURKEY: Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said today more air raids over Iraqi and Syrian Kurdistan were being planned because of Sunday’s suicide bomb attack in Ankara. The Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) has claimed responsibility for the terrorist act, which wounded two policemen.
