US: The Gun Violence Archives said on Wednesday that for the first time since it began collecting data, the US is on course to see more than 6,000 children and teens shot in a single year. 

The not-for-profit organisation said this would be an increase of at least 52 per cent on the 2,859 children and teenagers killed or injured since it first published statistics in 2014. 

SPAIN: Spain is about to conclude its hottest year on record, the nation’s weather service said on Wednesday.

The country’s national weather service said preliminary data indicates that 2022 will finish with average daily temperatures above 15°C for the first time since records started in 1961.

The four hottest years on record for the southern European country have all come since 2015, it said.

TRUMP: The release of former US president Donald Trump’s tax returns on Wednesday show that he paid little or no federal income taxes between 2015 and 2020. 

Mr Trump paid just $750 in taxes in 2016 and 2017, despite making tens of millions of dollars. 

In 2020, the former president paid no taxes.

FIJI: Fijian police said on Thursday they were calling in the military to help maintain security following a close election last week, now being disputed.

Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho said in a statement that after police and military leaders met with Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama they collectively decided to call in army and navy personnel to assist.
