Winter of industrial action looms over Coventry after refuse workers vote for action
COVENTRY refuse workers, who empty bins “during heatwaves, and hailstorms,” voted for action today.
According to Unite, the workers voted with an overwhelming majority of 74 per cent as they resist the council’s efforts to enforce substantial cuts to their employment terms and conditions.
The union maintains that local government workers’ pay has been slashed by 20 per cent in real terms since 2010.
