WORKERS were given “no notice” when Glasgow East Women’s Aid entered administration, their union has revealed.
Unite has vowed to fight for women and children’s support workers at the organisation, who deliver vital support to those living with or trying to flee domestic in Easterhouse, one of the most deprived communities in Scotland.
The organisation’s collapse represents the last chapter in a year of turmoil.
Thirteen union members were suspended in November and five later dismissed amid allegations they were targeted for their trade union activity.
Then just weeks after the union won their reinstatement, they found out through media reports that the group was to fold and its services be provided by others.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “The mismanagement at Glasgow East Women’s Aid is one of the worst cases we have ever come across.
“Make no mistake we will get to the bottom of this sorry mess and we will fight for all our members to secure justice.”
Glasgow East Women’s Aid was contacted for comment.
