Hungarian lawmakers take part in session which approved Sweden's accession into NATO, in Budapest, Hungary, February 26, 2024

NATO: Hungary’s parliament has voted to ratify Sweden’s bid to join the military alliance, removing in the final obstacle to Swedish membership after Turkey approved its application last month.

The vote, which passed with 188 votes for and six against, was the culmination of months of efforts by Hungary’s allies to convince Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s far-right government to stop blocking Sweden’s request.
