FILM director Ken Loach is set to join an unofficial inquiry into alleged abuses at the heart of Labour, including a McCarthy-style purge of socialists, it was confirmed today.
Mr Loach was himself recently expelled from the party in what campaigners have identified as an anti-left witch-hunt.
The event, Not The Forde Inquiry Part II, running alongside next week’s Labour conference in Brighton, is intended to highlight delays to the party’s official investigation, commissioned by leader Sir Keir Starmer last year.
Barrister Martin Forde was asked to investigate a leaked internal party report, which set out allegations of racism and electoral sabotage by party officials against then leader Jeremy Corbyn’s team during the 2017 general election, but he is yet to present his fundings.
Event organiser Norman Thomas said the second instalment in his probe will reveal shocking accusations of “dirty tricks, corrupt practices and anti-democratic activities on an appalling scale.”
Mr Thomas, a former chair of South Thanet Labour Party, who himself is threatened with expulsion, asked how Labour could promote justice in society “when there is no justice in our own party?”
The event, at Brighton’s Rialto Theatre on September 28, will be live-streamed at www.facebook.com/TheResistEvent.
