St Andrews rector dismissed from governing body after speaking out about Gaza

THE rector of St Andrew’s University has accused the institution of setting a dangerous precedent for freedom of speech after she was dismissed from its governing body after speaking out about Gaza.

Last November, Stella Maris sent an email to students calling for an immediate ceasefire. 

She described Israel’s attacks as “genocidal” and condemned how Palestinians have been subjected to “practices such as apartheid, siege [and] illegal occupation.”
