IRAN vowed revenge for the assassination of a leading member of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) today, condemning Sunday’s killing in Tehran as an act of terror.
“Thugs, rogue elements and remnants of terrorist groups affiliated with the global arrogance and zionism will be punished for their criminal acts,” Brigadier General Ramezan Sharif said.
General Hassan Sayyad Khodaei was killed close to his home in the Iranian capital. Two motorcyclists shot him as he got out of his car before fleeing the scene.
The Iranian security forces said that Israel was definitely behind the assassination.
“This act was undeniably carried out by the zionist regime. They [Israeli officials] must now be assured that harsh revenge awaits them,” head of the State Security Council Majid Mir-Ahmadi said.
He promised a severe response from Iran.
“The criminals who have committed the crime must be prepared for a stinging slap as our revenge will be such that they will regret their action,” he said.
