Harvey Weinstein appears in court in Los Angeles, October 4, 2022

UNITED STATES: Former Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein’s 2020 rape conviction has been overturned by the Court of Appeals in New York state.

The court found on Thursday that the trial judge had unfairly allowed testimony against Mr Weinstein based on allegations that weren’t part of the case.

The Manhattan district attorney’s office said it intended to retry Mr Weinstein, who will remain in prison because he was convicted in Los Angeles in 2022 of another rape.
