SUPPORTERS of the Palestinian people staged an international day of action against sports equipment and clothing manufacturer Puma today over its sponsorship of the Israeli Football Association.
The association includes teams from the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
Puma, shops, offices and stockists across Britain were targeted for protests.
In Manchester, activists occupied the German-owned transnational’s offices.
Protester Adie Mormech of Manchester Palestine Action told the Morning Star: “We demanded that Puma do not renew their contract with the Israeli Football Association.
“We can be proud of the pressure we have put on Puma in Manchester these last four years and we hope Puma do the right thing and end their sponsorship of apartheid Israel.”
The national Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign against Israel said: “There’s no doubt about it, the campaign to boycott Puma over its support for Israeli apartheid is having an impact.
“We won’t stop until Puma finally ends its complicity in Israel’s oppression of Palestinians.”
Puma was approached for comment.
