Teaching unions condemn Welsh government's proposed cut to summer break

TEACHING unions in Wales united today to condemn Welsh government proposals to change school terms to cut the summer break.

The two largest unions condemned Schools Minister Jeremy Miles’s consultation on the planned school calendar changes to spread holidays more evenly, including a two-week half-term autumn break.

NASUWT national officer for Wales Neil Butler said: “Teachers in Wales will be concerned that, once again, the Welsh government are attacking the summer holiday.
