Dozens of school buildings 'at risk of collapse' and may need evacuating at short notice, DfE warns schools
DOZENS of school buildings are at risk of collapsing and have been warned they could be closed within days as pupils prepare to return, an investigation has found.
The schools were built during the 1960s to 1990s with reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) which has a life expectancy of about 30 years.
Now the Department for Education has told those schools to prepare “for the eventuality that they are taken out of use and vacated at short notice,” according to the Mirror.
