A DOCTORS’ union has called for new laws to better protect NHS whistle-blowers after paediatricians were ignored in the case of serial baby killer Lucy Letby.
Hospital Consultants and Specialists Association (HCSA) president Dr Naru Narayanan criticised executives at the Countess of Chester Hospital, where nurse Letby murdered seven babies and attempted to murder six others.
He said: “It was very clear from some of the correspondence that I’ve seen that people were more concerned about the reputation of the trust and the unit, rather than being concerned about patient safety.
