Construction at Everton Stadium suspended after death of worker
Merseyside Police is working with the Health and Safety Executive and enquiries remain ongoing into the incident

THE family of a construction worker who died at Bramley Moore Dock have released a tribute to the much-loved son and Everton fan.

Merseyside police confirmed the 26-year-old who died was Michael Jones from Kirkby. Emergency services had been called to reports a worker had been injured while at the site of Everton’s new stadium on Monday.

Michael, who was a lifelong Evertonian, was rushed to Aintree hospital with severe head injuries but was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. A post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death is due to take place tomorrow, according to officers.
