Samworth Brothers must grant union recognition to its workers, BFAWU members demand
PROFITABLE Leicestershire-based food manufacturer Samworth Brothers must grant union recognition to its workforce, Bakers, Food & Allied Workers’ Union (BFAWU) members have demanded.
Delegates at the union’s annual conference flocked to a fringe meeting organised by ex-Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn’s Peace & Justice Project on Monday afternoon.
About 10,000 Samworth Brothers employees make sandwiches for Tesco and fresh pastries, salads and other food products for major supermarkets, including M&S and Sainsbury’s, and the Ginsters brand.
