Unite hits out at Labour's ‘reckless’ lack of detail on North Sea pledge and calls for ‘worker-led transition’

BRITAIN’S biggest oil and gas union has demanded a “fully funded plan” from the Labour Party for a “worker-led transition” in the North Sea.

Labour has announced it would issue no new oil and gas licences in the North Sea in government.

The move, which goes beyond the SNP’s “presumption against” and flies in the face of the Tory drive for exploitation of remaining reserves, was widely welcomed by environmental campaigners.
