THE trade union movement has much to learn from the National Education Union (NEU), left-wing Labour MP Richard Burgon told teachers today.
Addressing a fringe meeting at the union’s annual conference, the member for Leeds East praised the NEU’s ongoing fight for better pay and working conditions in schools and its support for sister unions across the world, including in Cuba.
He told delegates in Harrogate that it was “wonderful to see your big rejection” of the Tory government’s latest below-inflation pay deal, adding: “You have my full solidarity and I look forward to seeing you win this dispute.”
