UNDERPAID and overworked teachers pledged to show the Tory government “we mean business” today after backing another round of national strikes during the summer term across England.
A three-day walkout — in addition to strikes already confirmed on April 27 and May 2 — is now due in late June or early July after delegates at the National Education Union’s (NEU) annual conference overwhelmingly backed an urgent motion demanding more action.
The move, endorsed at the Harrogate Convention Centre, follows nearly 200,000 teachers rejecting the Tory government’s latest below-inflation wage offer in an online vote last week.
