Drax Hydro workers secure 8 per cent pay rise

THE Drax Hydro dispute has ended after engineers, plant controllers, mechanical and electrical craft workers voted to endorse a deal.

Unite members working across Stonebyres, Cruachan and Glenlee hydro-electric power stations had been in dispute with the company since last year, with 84.55 per cent of workers having voted for strike action on the issue.

But after intense negotiations, an overwhelming 90.5 per cent have now voted to accept a deal, receiving a cash lump sum of £1,500, an 8 per cent pay rise, and improvements to terms and conditions.
