Centrica's record profits show that the energy market is broken, campaigners and union leaders warn

ENERGY firm Centrica’s record profits show that Britain’s energy market is “broken,” campaigners and union leaders warned today.

The British Gas owner said that its gains more than tripled in 2022 to £3.3 billion, from £948 million in 2021.

Its announcement comes as the company faces an inquiry into the force-fitting of pre-payment meters (PPM) into the homes of vulnerable people who are unable to pay their bills.
