TORY ministers must “end the merry-go-round” and let rail bosses negotiate an end to a long-running dispute over pay, Aslef demanded today as its members prepare for more strikes.

The train driver union’s head Mick Whelan told the Morning Star that industrial action would continue across the network until Downing Street “unshackled” employers and allowed them to make an offer to his members, who last got a wage increase in 2019.

Workers at 11 train operating companies will withdraw their labour for another 24-hours on Saturday in a five-month dispute over plummeting take-home pay amid soaring inflation.
