A NEW toolkit to combat sexual harassment in schools will give teachers more “support, training and opportunity” to make education safer, the National Education Union (NEU) said yesterday.
To mark today’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the union has launched It’s Not OK, a resource pack to “support schools in understanding what a whole-school approach to preventing sexual harassment looks like.”
The toolkit, which follows research showing nearly two-fifths – 37 per cent – of female students have experienced some form of sexual harassment, will also give tips for working with students and protecting the rights of professionals, the union said.
