FURTHER strike action over attacks on pay, jobs and working conditions across the rail network is set to cripple services again next month, unions warned today.
RMT said that a national 24-hour walkout at Network Rail and 14 train operating companies on Saturday October 1 – the seventh this year – will bring the railways to an “effective standstill.”
And train drivers’ union Aslef confirmed reports that its members will down tools across 12 train operators on the same day as well as on October 5 after bosses failed to offer workers “a penny more.”
