RAIL union TSSA has welcomed plans for a new HS2 station in Birmingham but said the government must now “go back to the drawing board” and extend the link to Scotland.
The new interchange station will create 1,000 construction jobs, including 100 new apprenticeships in the industry, and long-term rail jobs, according to HS2 developers.
TSSA organising director Nadine Rae said: “As the recognised union for HS2 we heartily welcome this news because there is no more important large-scale project taking place in our country today.
