TRUST between rail workers and bosses has hit “rock bottom” after a confidential strategy outlining rail industry plans to close all ticket offices in England was revealed today.
The planned closures would see paper tickets phased out and 980 ticket offices shut or repurposed forcing passengers to book online in a scheme to save up to £500 million a year, The Sunday Times reported.
It comes amid rising tensions between rail workers, bosses and the government ahead of scheduled rail strikes this week which have been fuelled by disputes over employment rights, pay, conditions and job cuts.
TSSA general secretary Manuel Cortes said: “Trust has hit rock bottom between rail workers and bosses in both the industry and government.
