Bar staff claim union busting at St James Tavern in Brighton

WORKERS at a Brighton pub are being victimised because of their determination to push ahead with landmark strikes, their union has charged.

United Voices of the World (UVW) slammed bosses at Saint James Tavern for calling the bar staff into disciplinary proceedings today ahead of their first walkout – scheduled for June 25.

The workers, who bucked the trend in the largely non-unionised sector by unanimously backing industrial action last month, are demanding £11.50 an hour, an occupational sick pay scheme and an end to zero-hour contracts.
