US sends nuclear-powered warship to Korean peninsula
US nuclear-powered warships are heading for the Korean peninsula as tensions rise over Pyongyang’s missile testing programme, military officials confirmed today.
The USS Abraham Lincoln strike group, which is currently in the Sea of Japan on joint exercises, is set to be deployed to the region.
It is believed that incoming South Korean president Yoon Suk Yeo requested an increased US presence during talks with Washington last week.
