SEND in schools is in crisis, delegates warn

SPECIAL educational needs and disability (Send) provision in schools is in crisis, NEU delegates warned today.

Members at the union’s annual conference in Bournemouth overwhelming backed an amended motion that called for the union to push Tory minsters to ensure Send funding for councils is ring-fenced.

Properly funded consistent and fair budgets for alternative educational provision is also needed, the motion declared, alongside a drive to bring together campaign groups, parents and educators to discuss, debate and organise around the ever-growing crisis in the sector.
