Asda workers vote on industrial action over proposed cuts to sick pay
THOUSANDS of Asda workers began voting on possible strike action today over proposed cuts to sick pay, GMB has announced.
The consultative ballot, which would require a further formal industrial action vote if passed, comes after the union accused bosses of wanting to remove the first three days and the last 13 to 26 weeks of worker sick pay.
The scheme — introduced in 2012 — gave additional support to the supermarket’s distribution workers who were at increased risk of workplace stress and musculoskeletal issues, GMB said.
