CHINA reacted angrily today to the visit of a delegation of retired US defence officials who arrived in Taiwan.
Former chairman of the joint chiefs of staff — the operational supremo in the US war machine — Mike Mullen heads the five-person mission appointed by President Joe Biden to enhance “co-operation in various fields” and “maintain regional peace and stability.”
Beijing said the visit threatened serious damage to US-China relations, coming a day after the 50th anniversary of the Shanghai Communique, which opened formal diplomatic ties.
