STRIKES over attacks on pensions at a major independent school trust are set to continue after the latest concession from bosses was rejected, the National Education Union (NEU) confirmed today.
A three-day walkout at 23 institutions within the Girls’ Day School Trust across England is due to begin on Tuesday after earlier industrial action in February.
The union said that management, which plans to remove staff from the Teachers’ Pension Scheme, potentially slashing their retirement pots by 20 per cent, offered on Friday to allow teachers to remain in the scheme but with significant conditions attached.
NEU members at Woodfield School in north London are taking sustained industrial action against enforced cuts to learning support assistants’ hours and pay. MARY ADOSSIDES reports
