Girls’ Day School Trust's attacks on pensions threatens teachers nationwide, Corbyn warns

WORKING conditions for teachers nationwide could be under threat if bosses at a major girls’ school trust get away with attacks on pensions, former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn warned today.

Addressing striking National Education Union (NEU) teachers at a rally in London’s Parliament Square, the Islington North MP said that the security of all teachers would be “weakened” if management at the Girls’ Day School Trust get their way.

The demo, which also heard from pupils and Labour MPs, came after about 1,500 teachers within the trust’s 23 independent girls’ schools across England began six days of walkouts earlier this month against plans to withdraw staff from the teachers’ pension scheme.
