Teachers at 23 independent girls' schools set to strike again after rejecting bosses' pay offer
Protesters outside Sheffield Girls' School, as teachers at 23 independent schools within the Girls' Day School Trust (GDST) go on strike over pensions, with around 1,500 members of the NEU teaching union involved

FURTHER strike action at 23 independent girls’ schools across England is set to continue on Wednesday after concessions from bosses on pay and pensions were rejected.

Teachers within the Girls’ Day School Trust had been asked not to walk out over the next two days after the offer of a wage increase and a proposal to stay in their pension scheme for longer.

But the National Education Union (NEU), which represents the workers, confirmed today that industrial action would go ahead as the last-minute proposals gave no reassurance that staff would not be adversely affected.
