Union welcomes Ikea's decision to increase pay beyond real living wage rates

RETAIL union Usdaw welcomed Ikea’s latest pay increase today, which goes beyond the new real living wage rates.

Following discussions with the union, the Sweden-based home furniture chain said that staff will be paid at least £11.30 an hour in London and £10.10 in the rest of the country.

The real living wage, which is based on living costs and paid voluntarily by employers, is currently £9.90 an hour, or £11.05 in the capital.
