Government only paying lip service to tackling the climate crisis, Manchester mayor Andy Burnham charges
MANCHESTER mayor Andy Burnham has said the fact that the government has not intervened to halt the planned Cambo oilfield and a coal mine in Cumbria is evidence that Britain is only paying lip service to tackling the climate crisis.
Speaking at Cop26 today, the former Labour MP said that the government must practice what it preaches when it comes to climate, questioning the leadership shown by the Tories.
Mr Burnham said that actions at the UN climate conference so far have not matched previous commitments.
