Unions write to home secretary demanding police staff pay freeze is overturned
Priti Patel

UNIONS wrote to Home Secretary Priti Patel today to demand the overturning of a pay freeze on police, insisting that they “deserve better.”

In July, the Police Staff Council announced that staff earning more than £24,000 a year would have their wages frozen for 2021-22, with lower-paid workers receiving just £250 more per year.

In their letter, Unite, Unison and GMB point out that other emergency responders will not be subjected to a pay freeze in the coming year.
