Fight is on to get US privateers out of GP surgeries, says Corbyn
Former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn speaks during a demonstration outside the Israeli embassy in London, in solidarity with the people of Palestine amid the ongoing conflict with Israel

THE fight is on to get profiteering US privateers out of GP surgeries, Jeremy Corbyn told campaigners in north London at the weekend.

At a meeting seeking to overturn the takeover by health insurance giant Centene of two practices in Islington, the former Labour leader said he had worked hard before the 2019 election to ensure that the party pledged to renationalise the NHS.

He said: “This American company does not care about the healthcare of local people: it cares about making profits for its shareholders.”
