THE government is facing a growing rebellion against widely condemned cuts to foreign aid as dozens of Tory MPs backed a vote next week to reverse the move. 

Humanitarian organisations have repeatedly urged ministers to scrap the reduction in aid spending from 0.7 per cent of national income to 0.5 per cent – a drop of more than £4 billion.

Now Prime Minister Boris Johnson faces a revolt from members of his own party as MPs tabled an amendment on Wednesday to force the government to reinstate the legally binding target of 0.7 per cent from next January.
