Syria demands UN takes ‘strict and immediate’ action against Israeli airstrikes

DAMASCUS demanded today that the the United Nations security council take “strict and immediate” action against Israel in response to air strikes that killed least 40 people in Syria earlier this week.

The Syrian government alleged that there had been clear co-ordination between Israel and the US  and that the bombing raids, which struck some 18 sites, were aimed at “implementing the American project” in Syria.

The Morning Star reported on Wednesday that the air strikes had followed a meeting between US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Yossi Cohen, head of Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, in Washington on Monday.
