NEU warns of surge in kids’ mental health issues

AROUND four in five teachers have seen a surge in pupils’ mental health issues over the past year, according to a poll by the National Education Union (NEU).

More than 60 per cent believe the government has placed low priority on the good mental health of young people in educational settings, the survey found.

NEU is calling on ministers to recognise that the wellbeing of young people is “just as vital” as their academic learning.
