Greek health workers may strike again after 24-hour stoppage

GREEK health workers could take further strike action after a 24-hour stoppage demanding increased funding of the public health system and an end to lay-offs ended yesterday.

Thousands of workers in public hospitals and other sectors walked out with large protests in the capital Athens, Thessaloniki and other cities.

They were protesting against the government’s “criminal policies” which they say are turning health into a commodity.
