THAILAND’S riot police fired a water cannon and tear gas at protesters today as they tried to break through barricades outside parliament while possible changes to the constitution were discussed.
Police had set up the barbed wire barricades earlier as hundreds of royalists demonstrated to call on MPs not to change the constitution.
But the student-led pro-democracy protesters are demanding changes to the constitution that was drawn up by the country’s former junta and want the removal of former military ruler Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha.
