IRANIAN security forces fired tear gas at a peaceful protest in Isfahan yesterday with at least 50 teachers believed to have been detained as anti-government protests continue.
They attacked the gathering which took place outside the city’s Education Department as teachers demanded an increase in wages and the release of their colleagues who were jailed after taking strike action earlier this year.
The demonstration was part of growing unrest across the country with anger over the regime’s handling of an economic crisis and acute water shortages.
