MAJOR steps towards peace in the Korean peninsula were taken today as North Korean leader Kim Jong Un promised to dismantle the country’s main nuclear complex to “eliminate the danger of war.”

The declaration was made during the third summit between Mr Kim and his South Korean counterpart President Moon Jae In in Pyongyang.

Mr Kim said: “We have agreed to make the Korean Peninsula a land of peace that is free from nuclear weapons and nuclear threat,” pledging that international inspectors would be allowed to witness the dismantling of the complex at Nyongbyon.
