Hungary warned over far-right policies

HUNGARY faces sanctions from the European Parliament over its anti-immigration policies amid warnings that Viktor Orban’s right-wing administration poses a serious risk to the values of the European Union (EU).

The European Parliament will discuss whether to invoke Article 7, which would trigger disciplinary proceedings against Hungary amid accusations that Mr Orban has violated “the rule of law and respect for human rights.”

Mr Orban will appeal against such a move which could see Hungary lose its voting rights in the European Parliament if he does not take appropriate measures.
