Government U-turns on decision to send pupils back to school next week
HUNDREDS of thousands of pupils will not now return to schools and colleges as planned next week due to rising Covid infection rates.
Announcing a U-turn on the government’s “staggered reopening” today, Education Secretary Gavin Williamson said that students in exam years will return to secondary schools from January 11, a week later than planned.
Other secondary and college students will go back full-time on January 18, he told Parliament.
